This is a simple question with profound implications. Many will gather with friends and family to celebrate Independence Day this year, but for different reasons other then our independence from Great Britain. This day should be a reminder of the day we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, freeing the multitudes from their spiritual captivity. The bondage we once felt under the devil's oppression is a thing of the past ; whereby, through Christ Jesus we were made free. Galatians 5:1 KJV Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
John 8:36 KJV If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Why? Because he conquered death and is seated at the right hand of the Father today, and because He lives, so too shall I live. Galatians 2:20 says it best. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. In other words, brothers and sisters, we have reason to celebrate our independence from the devil the day Jesus's died for our sins on the cross, freeing us from the law of sin and death. As shown in Romans 8:1-2 KJV There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Because we know Christ Jesus, we also know the Truth, and the Truth shall make us free (John 8:32 KJV). By now, we are starting to see the big picture, encompassing the Son of God in Jesus Christ. He is not just some political figure, notable personality, or wantabe icon. He is God, clothed in flesh sent by God himself to save that which was lost. So that you and I might life! For without Jesus, mankind walketh on the path that leadeth to destruction. Thank God, He sent us a Savior.
I pray this Independence Day, you will take a moment to thank God for sending His Son to die on the cross in our place. As a result, those who have accepted God's gift of salvation will have eternal life in the life to come. If you have not done so perhaps today you will ask Jesus into your heart and begin living for Jesus, following His examples, and growing into the men and women He is asking us to be in Christ Jesus. Amen? Amen!
