1. Man's Source of Truth

Updated: Mar 20, 2023

Thy Word is Truth

John 17:17 - Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Jesus is calling on His heavenly father to sanctify them (believers) through thy truth: Truth as found in the Word of God, the Bible or what is commonly referred to as Scripture. The Holy Bible is Truth and can be trusted; preserved not by mankind's wisdom, or the world's philosophies, or any form of religion, but simply by the word of God. It is where believers find comfort, peace, and direction, reading and studying the Word - the Truth.

But what about those who have not yet accepted God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ as their Savior? Is God's Word, the truth, available to them - an unbeliever? YES, but that answer comes with a caveat, an unbeliever must choose to believe and accept Jesus. Whereby, a man believes Christ Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for man's sins, and was raised from the dead on the third day according to Scripture, and is currently seated at the right hand of God, our Father in Heaven (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Romans 8:34 and 10:9-10). In that profession of faith, an unbeliever becomes a believer and the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in a believer's (new) heart. Whereby, a person's spirit is "Born Again" spiritually, giving him new life (John 3:3 and 7). From Scripture, each of these scriptural truths can be found within the Bible, underlining what John 17:17 was saying, when Jesus said, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

These truths are essential and an important first step in understanding and acknowledging the truth. Without the acceptance of Christ, a person will likely substitute the truth of Scripture for man's wisdom, the world's philosophies, and/or some other form of truth.

As the Scriptures say in John 17:17 Sanctify (set apart believers from the world; declare them holy) through thy truth: thy word is truth.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and believe,

John 8:32 KJV says, "ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Application: Can you find another truth within Scripture (God's word) the Bible? so as to be transformed by the word of God in cooperation with the Spirit of God. Share what you learned in the comment section below, so that others might also learn to trust in the truths of Scripture.

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior will you let me know in the comment section below, so I can pray for you and give thanks to God? Amen
